No gentle introduction here: from an elevated tee the hole drops away with the fairway sweeping from left to right. Cross bunkers some twenty yards short of the green may necessitate a lay-up second shot for many players. A five may well result, but even after a bogey the view out to the west will lift the spirits - the first of Silkstone's many spectacular vistas.
