Winter Wheels and Mats Policy

To enable us to protect our fairways, in 2014 we introduced the compulsory use of winter wheels and mats in the winter months once ground conditions dictate.  Using winter wheels and mats, enables the course to be maintained in a better condition which will benefit all players.

Depending on the weather and course conditions, this policy is nominally in force from 1st November through to 31st March each year.

Winter wheels not only give golfers extra grip and control when negotiating the course but also generally cause less damage to the playing surfaces.  Our aim is to ensure, where reasonable and practicable, maximum year round high quality safe golf.  To do this we must protect the playing surfaces during vulnerable winter months from damage caused by carts, trolleys and golfers during wet and frosty weather as well as ensuring a safe environment for golfers.

Fairway mats can be hired from the Professional's Shop with a refundable deposit.

Winter wheel trollies are available for hire from our professional at a reduced rate.

With the co-operation and support of members and vistors alike, we can continue to improve our course and give members and visitors an enjoyable year-round experience at Silkstone Golf Club.
