Adult Academy Membership

One ambition of Silkstone Golf Club is to become a centre for grass roots development golf club in the area. To help achieve this, our Golf Academy is specifically focused on new golfers, with the objective of helping beginner’s bridge the gap between learning and playing. 

Academy members receive low cost professional coaching in both a group and individual environment. Members have access to our 9 hole academy course, organised golf, practice facilities and free range ball tokens during organised practice sessions.

From April to November beginner’s group lessons are schedule on a fortnightly basis to cover basic pre-swing principles for putting, pitching & chipping, bunker play, iron play and woods.

Our professional staff and members provide a comfortable environment and pathway for new golfers to start, learn and play golf at Silkstone Golf Club. Academy membership is available for up to 2 years 

Junior Academy Membership

Glyn Utley (Junior Organiser) and staff from the Professional's shop provide children aged 6-16 with a pathway to start, learn and play golf at Silkstone Golf Club.

Junior Academy membership includes use of our 9 hole academy course, full course (for those with a handicap 28 or less) and practice facilities. Academy juniors (all abilities) are invited to play in our weekly competitions (Saturdays at 2pm) from April until October.

It doesn’t stop there; from November through March, a series of scheduled Academy events including subsidised golf coaching at the Pete Cowen Golf Academy, social events and limited play, are designed to retain the children’s interest in golf throughout the winter months.

Group Golf Coaching

The Junior Golf Passport is the national structured learning programme for children aged 6-14 years, endorsed by the PGA. The multi-layered programme progresses a complete novice golfer into a junior golfer ready for membership at our golf club. The programme has 3 key levels: START, LEARN and PLAY.

The START level is all about fun and an elementary introduction to golf.

The LEARN level is a move towards technical instruction through games-based learning, always with the emphasis on fun.

The PLAY level teaches children to apply their learning to the golf course, preparing them for Silkstone Golf Club junior academy membership and competition.

Junior Golf Passport Courses are scheduled in 8 week blocks on Saturday mornings during April - June & September - October.
